Sex workers trafficked via water route, escaping quarantine arrested

Police have arrested 14 people in connection to the trafficking of mainland sex workers to Hong Kong on speed boats. Aged 23 to 67, they were arrested in various parts of Lantau and in several hotels where the prostitution were arranged. The arrested included five local men who facilitated the trafficking. The remaining nine were illegal immigrants aged 23 to 36, including six female sex workers. Police said the group resorted to trafficking the women via water route in order to avoid the 14-day quarantine slapped on anyone entering via land borders.
