Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on the first official day of winter and noted temperatures Friday night into the weekend will likely be the coldest of the season so far. Friday’s strong cold front is also expected to bring strong to damaging southwesterly winds. Intense winds are expected to continue through Saturday and becoming lighter on Sunday, as the system makes its way through the province. Quinte Conservation warns nuisance flooding is possible in prone or low-lying areas and has issued a water safety statement.
