The areas highlighted in yellow are under a severe thunderstorm watch while those in red are under a severe thunderstorm warning. That has prompted Environment Canada to issue a severe thunderstorm watch for nearly all of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg. "Some of these storms will likely be severe [and] the threat of severe weather is likely to continue for much of the day." (Environment Canada)Some areas just west and north of the city are under a severe thunderstorm warning, which is more urgent than a watch. Clouds will roll in, bringing the risk of a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, Environment Canada forecasts.
