Severe thunderstorm watch ends after brief storm

Environment Canada’s severe thunderstorm watch ended as of 7:08 p.m. The weather service initially issued a watch — and briefly, a warning — after a string of severe thunderstorms in the area on Thursday afternoon. A strong thunderstorm wreaked havoc on commuters in downtown Toronto, just after 4:30 p.m. Environment Canada also warned of possible washouts near rivers and creeks, as well as the potential for strong winds to damage buildings and trees. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent thunderstorms are producing either large hail, damaging winds, or torrential rainfall in an area.
