KAMPAR: A total of 22 pupils and 11 teachers of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Pekan here were forced to be quarantined at their homes and were not allowed to go to school temporarily after being infected with secondary infection to their skin due to mite bites. Perak Health committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said the mite bites could cause itchiness and rashes to form on the skin and if left untreated, it could cause severe skin rashes. Due to that, 22 pupils had skin rashes," he said. Meanwhile, state Health Department director Datuk Dr Hassan Merican said 11 teachers also had rashes on their hands and legs. "I hope the Education Department and Health Department could look into this matter thoroughly as it involves the health of the pupils and the teachers here," he added.
