Police arrested a 52-year-old man named Monir Ahmmed, who is a neighbour of the seventh grader, after her father filed a case against him on Wednesday, police say. The accused, Monir, was illicitly stalking the girl for a while and when on Tuesday she went to use the bathroom of her home, he broke into the bathroom and raped her. Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the place, caught Monir in the act, and handed him over to the police, the case statement says. Birulia Police Outpost OC Apurbo Datta said: "We sent the girl to DMCH's One Stop Crisis Centre and produced the accused before the court."
