Police have arrested a day labourer for raping a seven-year-old girl in Begunbari of the Aminbazar area in Dhaka’s Savar upazila. Locals caught labourer Quader Miah, 35, in the act of molesting the girl on Monday morning and handed him over to police, Savar Model police station Sub-Inspector Zaman said. Quader had lured the girl, his neighbour’s daughter, over to his apartment with promises that he would let her watch television and then proceeded to sexually assault her. Locals rushed to the scene after hearing the child’s screams and rescued her. SI Zaman added that the victim had been sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and a case had already been filed against Quader.
