The warning, issued at 5am on Tuesday, was the fourth alert related to the storm. The department said the severe weather would be caused by the storm which was 200 kilometres east of Chumphon or latitude 9.5 degrees North, longitude 101.0 degrees East at 4am on Tuesday. With sustained winds of 55 km/h, the storm is moving northwest to make landfall over Chumphon on Tuesday before moving out to the Andaman Sea on Wednesday. Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat can expect heavy rains and gusty winds Tuesday and Wednesday while Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket would be hit from Tuesday to Thursday. The department advised people in the affected provinces to monitor weather updates constantly.
