KUALA LUMPUR (April 2): The prosecution is expected to call seven witnesses in the trial of two Chinese nationals charged with taking aerial photographs using a drone in a restricted area belonging to the Ministry of Defence (Mindef). Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Hakimie Ab Hadi informed Sessions Court judge Suhaila Haron of the matter during case management on Thursday. Also present at the proceedings was counsel Ooi Hong Ming, who appeared for the accused, Li Luorong, 27, and Chen Junhao, 20. It was previously reported that the Attorney General’s Chambers had rejected representations submitted by both accused seeking a review of the charges. They were charged under Section 3(a) of the Official Secrets Act 1972, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for life imprisonment upon conviction.
