Seven people have been hurt after a two-car crash near Moeraki in North Otago tonight. Police said the crash happened on State Highway 1, about 1km south of the turnoff to Moeraki, around 8.10pm. A St John spokesperson confirmed that seven patients have moderate to minor injuries. Two rescue helicopters were sent from Dunedin. Police said the southbound lane of SH1 was blocked late on Friday night and motorists were urged to avoid travelling through the area if possible.
