The Serious Fraud Office is seeking a retrial of three former Tesco executives accused of fraud and false accounting, after their trial was abandoned last month. The five-month trial had to be discontinued during its latter stages after Carl Rogberg, the supermarket group’s former UK finance director, suffered a heart attack. The fraud agency said yesterday that it had written to the courts to obtain a retrial and that a date for the next hearing would be set in “due course”. Tesco is Britain’s biggest supermarket chain, with £49.9 billion of group sales and 460,000 employees. Neil O’May, of Norton Rose Fulbright, the solicitor to Mr Rogberg, said: “Carl Rogberg is extremely disappointed by this decision.
