It hit a low of 25,753.74 on December 26, 2016.“Sensex crossed the 30,000 mark. We have been through Brexit , the US elections and demonetisation, and perhaps we will sail through the French elections as well. BSE Realty index jumped over 30 per cent, BSE capital goods index soared over 27 per cent, while BSE metal index gained in excess of 22 per cent. The valuation premium of midcaps over largecaps expanded to 19 per cent in March from 15 per cent in the previous month.Analysts noted that the sharp 16 per cent rally from December 26 has pushed valuations higher. The Nifty’s earnings performance has been flat over the last three years, with EPS fluctuating around Rs 400 over FY14-17.
