Sensex hits three-week high as volatility eases


After last week's spell of volatility, equity markets on Monday started on a positive note. Riding high on buoyant global sentiment, Sensex surged 303.60 points, or 0.89%, to close at three-week high at 34445.75 while the broader Nifty rose 91.55 points. During the intra-day trade, Sensex went as high as 34,482.63 and Nifty traded between 10526.55 to 10592.70. Sun Pharma, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, ITC and Wipro were the biggest laggard on Sensex, falling as much as 2.46%. Globally, most Asian and European markets rallied after the US stocks rose last Friday.
