An elderly woman is dead after being struck by a dump truck in Oakville on Wednesday afternoon. Halton police said officers were called to the scene at Speers Road and Fourth Line, a large intersection near a shopping plaza. Following the crash, the woman's body was left covered on the street a few metres behind the dump truck. The collision happened near a bus shelter, though it's unclear what the woman was doing in the moments before the crash. The area will be closed as a collision reconstruction unit investigates.
