Share TweetBy Hannah TorregozaSenators on Wednesday heaved a sigh of relief as they welcomed President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to replace National Food Authority (NFA) administrator Jason Aquino amid the continuing increase of rice prices and the lack of NFA rice in the market. Opposition Senator Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV described this development a “good start” for the Duterte administration. Senators have called on Aquino to step down from his post as NFA administration due to gross mismanagement and allowing the NFA’s buffer stock to be depleted. The lack of availability of the NFA rice in the market has triggered concerns of rice shortage and spiked its prices.
