Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala scored a brace, while Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Kitui Senator Enock Wambua scored a goal each to sink their opponents who comprised of governors and their deputies. On-form Malala found the back of the net barely five minutes into the match when he capitalised on a defence mix-up to beat Council of Governors Governors FC goalkeeper Martin Moshisi. Council of Governors FC, under coach Hassan Dahiye, fought back gallantly but wasted glorious chances to equalise via strikers Francis Kagwima, Peter Ndambiri and Muthomi Njuki. Upon resumption, Senate FC came back a more refined side.
