NEWARK, N.J.—Two U.S. senators from opposite sides of the political aisle testified on behalf of Sen. Bob Menendez at his federal corruption trial on Thursday, describing the New Jersey Democrat as an honest and honorable colleague. The two-term senator is facing fraud and bribery charges. Prosecutors have accused him of trading political favors for $1 million in gifts and campaign contributions from his co-defendant, Florida physician Salomon Melgen. Both men, who are longtime friends, have pleaded not guilty.
