Senator Invokes Me Too Movement In Call To Delay Kavanaugh Vote

A Democratic senator on Saturday called for the Senate to delay a confirmation vote on President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, after a woman accused Kavanaugh of an attempted sexual assault in high school. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) invoked the Me Too movement to demand a thorough investigation of the charge. The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on Thursday on Kavanaugh’s appointment. Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said on Friday that the vote would proceed as scheduled. The woman had earlier sent a letter making her accusation to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who after a delay referred the matter to the FBI.
