The Senate unanimously approved on third and final reading on Monday a resolution concurring in the ratification of an International Labor Organization (ILO) treaty that provides protection for government workers by recognizing their right to form a union and negotiate employment conditions. Twenty-two of 23 senators voted to approve Senate Resolution No. 454 agreeing to the ILO Convention No. 151, which would benefit 2.3 million government employees. The Philippines is the first Asian country to ratify the international treaty.
