A Senate watchdog committee has summoned Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi for alleged contempt and failure to appear to explain audit queries on eight water companies. The Senate County Public Investment and Special Funds Committee directed the county chief to appear before it on August 21, or face fines. They are Thika Water and Sewerage Company, Kiambu Water and Sewerage Company and Gatundu Water and Sanitation Company. Other water companies that were to be probed include Ruiru-Juja Water and Sewerage Company, Limuru Water and Sewerage Company, Kikuyu Water and Sewerage Company, Karuri Water and Sewerage Company and Githunguri Water and Sanitation Company. Governor Wamatangi had sent a letter requesting for postponement of the sitting, citing that he had accompanied President William Ruto for the Mt Kenya development tour, an excuse that the senators rubbished.
