Senate doesn't need your help on revenue formula, Muturi tells MPs

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has urged MPs to let the Senate handle the debate on the controversial counties revenue sharing formula. Muturi said lawmakers would get ample time to discuss the bill, adding he hopes it won’t be like when the second formula was sent to the House without adequate time for debate. “When the second formula was up for debate, we passed it without amendments,” he said during the third leadership retreat in Nairobi on Tuesday. The committee has been haggling for days now with no end in sight over the controversial third basis for sharing revenue among counties. The team, co-chaired by senators Moses Wetang'ula (Bungoma) and Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi) met the Treasury bosses and Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) last Friday where the request for additional allocation was floated.
