For much of the summer, it looked as if Senate Republicans' hopes of keeping the Senate could drown in a Hillary Clinton wave. In part thanks to Trump's poor performance in swing states (see Arizona and Georgia), they have a real chance in nine. But Senate Republicans don't necessarily need him to win to maintain the majority — they just need him to avoid a blowout loss. Senate Democratic candidates might be faltering: Yes, Democrats got their preferred candidates through some tough primaries. But when it comes to taking back the Senate, Democrats have little room for error.
