Senate, Congress adopt joint resolution to fast-track postponement of Oct pollsThe House of Representatives and Senate have agreed to adopt a joint resolution, instead of passing a measure, to fast track the postponement of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections. “I was told that passing or adopting a joint resolution will be the best option as this would shortcut the process. Last Thursday, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez expressed the Lower Chamber’s readiness to pass a joint resolution for the postponement of the October 31 elections. Last August 1, the supermajority coalition held a viva voce voting on the proposed postponement of the barangay and SK polls. During the voting, majority of the supermajority members pushed for the rescheduling of the barangay and SK polls.
