WASHINGTON—The Senate on Tuesday confirmed deputy White House chief of staff Kirstjen Nielsen as President Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Homeland Security. Senators approved her nomination, 62-37. Ms. Nielsen, 45 years old, is a former DHS official who is considered a protégé of White House chief of staff John Kelly, a former DHS secretary.
