Semifinals drew bigger crowd than PBA finalsThe blockbuster gate receipts that the PBA was hoping for in light of Ginebra’s championship run has not translated to full capacity at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. But the figures are still huge although the kind of a turn away crowd the PBA probably anticipated has not materialized. In fact, the semifinals, game 4 and 5, played between Ginebra and San Miguel Beer, drew a bigger crowd than the finals. The first game of the finals last Friday attracted a crowd of 14,000, while the second game Sunday drew 19,000 for a total of 33,000. PBA officials are confident the next games of the finals, a best-of-seven, will draw bigger crowds, most of them rooting for the Gin Kings.
