Selling pressure mounts after MSCI ejects three Chinese telcos


The US has accused China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile as serving the interests of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. China Telecom (0728) has shed 5.91 percent at HK$1.91 today. China Mobile (0941) has lost 3.12 percent at HK$41.95, and China Unicom HK (0762) is down by 3.60 percent at HK$4.29. The index provider’s decision to cut China Mobile, China Telecom Corp, and China Unicom Hong Kong at the close of business on Friday will apply to the companies’ Hong Kong-listed shares. China Mobile is among the largest stocks in the MSCI China Index, with a weighting of about 1.1 percent, data compiled by Bloomberg show.
