‘ A ‘Seen but not Herd’ programme in Glenamaddy came to an end last week with an event in the community centre where mental health and stress, and their impact on farm families were discussed. ‘Seen but not Herd’ is jointly run by GRD and the HSE and is managed in Glenamaddy by SICAP (Social Inclusion and Community Activity Programme) officer Emily Hughes, and administered by Laurence Gaughan, Project Manager with the HSE. Pictured at the Glenamaddy ‘Seen but not Herd’ gathering were chairperson for the evening - Cllr Pete Roche (Chairperson of GRD), Galway footballer Shane Walsh, Cllr Peter Keaveney, and Maria Walsh MEP. “The initiative is essentially about being proactive with mental health, and about building resilience. Because of the unqualified success of the ‘Seen but not Herd’ programme in Glenamaddy, I know that the SICAP team are hoping to mirror it in communities across the county.”
