By VIVIAN JEBETMore by this AuthorSecurity has been heightened in the conflict-prone area of Kom in Isiolo following an invasion by herders from three neighbouring counties. Isiolo County Commissioner George Natembeya said armed herders from Marsabit, Isiolo and Samburu counties have invaded the area due to drought. Thousands of animals have migrated into the reserved grazing area which has limited pasture and water. Kom trading centre was deserted two years ago following killings of several herders and residents in conflicts over water and pastures. More than 20 police officers have been deployed in the area to help reservists enhance security.
