COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Security preparations for the January 21 Bangsamoro Organic Law plebiscite are now underway, officials said Tuesday. Another plebiscite is scheduled on February 6 expanded areas, including six towns in Lanao del Norte and villages in North Cotabato. Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares of the Police Regional Office-ARMM said their units in all five ARMM provinces have started charting security plans meant to ensure a safe conduct of the plebiscite. The ARMM covers Maguindanao, and Lanao del Sur, both in mainland Mindanao, and the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. Sobejana said security efforts are closely coordinated with municipal and provincial peace and order councils in Region 12 and in ARMM.
