Security guards have won a $2.9 million settlement after claiming a prominent Ontario-based security firm misled them about overtime entitlements and failed to compensate them for all hours worked. The settlement is a result of a class-action suit against Primary Response, which employed some 2,000 security guards in the province and is now owned by global security giant GardaWorld Security Corporation. Click to expandSince being purchased by GardaWorld, Primary Response security guards joined the United Steelworkers union. The class action sought $25 million in damages when it launched in 2018. The settlement results in a payout to those who worked as security guard at Primary Response between late February 2011 and January 2018.
