Security concerns ground President's daughter

NEW DELHI: Security considerations have prevented President Ram Nath Kovind 's daughter Swati from resuming work as air hostess on Air India 's Boeing 777 and 787 planes that fly long haul routes to Europe, America, Australia and the far east.Swati had taken privilege leave earlier this year after her father was nominated as BJP 's presidential candidate, to assist in his election process. The trained flight attendant rejoined work recently and has been assigned to AI's headquarters in Delhi for a ground job primarily due to security reasons, say sources. "Swati is now in the integration team of AI which handles merger issues of erstwhile AI and Indian Airlines," said a senior official.AI officials and senior pilots say Swati did not even mention that her father was contesting for the President 's post while applying for leave earlier this year. She does not even use her surname.Senior AI pilots of B-777 and B-787 say Swati is one of the finest cabin crew members in the airline. "We will miss having her on the flights but we kind of knew that as the president's daughter she may not return as an air hostess due to security considerations," said a B-787 commander.
