The members of the Security Council called on all Libyan parties to participate and cooperate constructively to address outstanding issues through a comprehensive and purposeful dialogue, stressing the need to take the necessary steps to complete financial arrangements and prepare a unified budget to ensure the stability of the Libyan financial system. This came in a statement issued on Wednesday evening, following a briefing by the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Koury, who addressed the most prominent political, economic and security developments in the country. The members of the Security Council welcomed, in a statement published by the UN mission on its Facebook page, the agreement reached between the Libyan parties regarding the Central Bank of Libya and its approval by the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, calling on all parties to fully and quickly implement the agreement, including the appointment of a board of directors. The Security Council expressed its concern about the impact of the crisis on Libyan citizens and the financial and economic situation in Libya, stressing the need to unify state institutions, also calling on all Libyan parties to participate and cooperate constructively to address outstanding issues through a comprehensive and purposeful dialogue, which paves the way for the unification of all institutions. The statement also called for strengthening commitment to an inclusive Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process leading to free, fair, transparent and inclusive presidential and parliamentary elections across Libya as soon as possible.
