(CNN) Secretary of State Rex Tillerson kicked off his "listening" tour of the State Department with an online survey that employees are being encouraged to fill out. The final question is simply: "Is there anything else you would like to tell Secretary Tillerson?" Just like him, I care about the mission of the State Department and about my former colleagues: foreign service, civil service and local nationals alike. So, if you don't mind, Mr. Secretary, I'd like to take a stab at that final question of yours. Interacting with the media -- the State Department press corps, in particular -- gives you the opportunity to carry home a point, sir, bluntly and with conviction.
