A military inquiry has confirmed villagers' accounts that they were flexi-cuffed and detained in the aftermath of an SAS firefight in Afghanistan. An Afghan villager was killed while running away from New Zealand SAS troopers and a naked detainee was mistreated, a military inquiry has found. Two Afghan villagers told Stuff Circuit that SAS troopers had provoked the firefight, saying "They kicked, slapped and punched us and then headed off". Once the two wounded patrol members had been evacuated, a decision was made to search Pay Kotel. Patrol members applied first aid before a vehicle was sent to collect him to take him to the New Zealand medic.
