Here are some of the beautiful trees that grace Colombo, providing shade, carbon sequestration and colour. In a leaf with say five lobes, the two leaflets on the sides will be stalkless and the three central leaflets will have long stalks. Queen’s Flower -LagerstroemiaspeciosaIt can grow into a large tree, although the trees in Colombo for example are never very big. The tree has long, cylindrical pods up to a metre long.
