A search and rescue operation has continued in Southland, after a fisherman was reported overdue late yesterday. The 29-year-old Southland man was believed to be fishing off rocks in the Fortrose, Stirling Point area. Police said 19 staff were searching the Slope Point area, which was very rugged with parts inaccessible by foot. Police visited the area last night and found the man's car and some fishing gear. A helicopter assisted with the search last night, but found nothing.
