Pictures courtesy: KMRCCalcutta: The first lot of platform screen doors for the East-West Metro is arriving from China months ahead of schedule, a senior railway official said. Platform screen doors are meant to prevent accidents and suicides. "This is why closing of train and platform screen doors won't be automated, unlike in many countries," the railway official said. There will be six screen doors on each platform, matching the number of coaches in every rake.
