Scrapped tours will not affect pay packets as Eoin Morgan's England squad prepare for South Africa

England’s players will receive their full basic salaries of up to £800,000 even if several matches or entire tours are cancelled due to the pandemic over the next year. Eoin Morgan’s white-ball squad will fly to South Africa on Monday for three ODI and T20 games, despite doubts over the tour following the infighting and independent audit that has been commissioned into the running of Cricket South Africa. The ECB have always been confident that the South Africa tour would take place, but have yet to confirm that Test and T20 series scheduled for Sri Lanka and Pakistan next January will go ahead. Sportsmail has learned that England’s players will continue to be paid in full in the event of cancellations as they are all on retainer contracts which are not linked to the amount of cricket played, although they would lose out on match fees and win bonuses. Although England’s players agreed to take pay cuts of around 15 per cent this year — most of which is based on a reduction in their bonus payments — those with Test and white-ball contracts will still receive a basic salary of around £800,000.
