Scott Forbes Suspended Two Games by NCAA

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina head coach Scott Forbes has been suspended for two games by the NCAA following his ejection during the Saturday night loss to Virginia Commonwealth on the second day of the NCAA Tournament Regional. UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham tweeted out a comment following the confirmed suspension while awaiting a statement from the NCAA. Forbes was ejected one time previously this season, although that has no bearing on this suspension, per a UNC spokesperson. The definition of Infield Fly (Rule 2-48) requires that a fair fly ball must be able to be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort in order to be considered an infield fly and, in the umpire crew’s judgment, this did not meet the criteria for an infield fly. "North Carolina Head Coach Scott Forbes began to argue the decisions about the play and was ultimately ejected from the game.
