It will appear of little value to anybody outside of the club to see Scott Carson involved in City's pre-season and taking the armband when he came on against Chelsea. However, Guardiola knows the hidden value that the veteran keeper brings to the squad that cannot be underestimated. Carson is looked up to in the City squad and his voice is respected, as was reflected in him getting the captain's armband when he came on against Chelsea. Guardiola knows exactly what the stopper offers and he can work with that. It may not seem like much, but continuity has been a big part of City's success under Guardiola.
