In the face of this evidence, Ms Douglas said it was “really disappointing” that the Scottish Whisky Association (SWA) had “echoed the tactics of the tobacco industry in delaying life-saving legislation”. Alison Douglas, the chief executive of Alcohol Focus Scotland, said extensive research showed that the price rise associated with the Holyrood government’s minimum pricing plan would diminish problem drinking among vulnerable groups, particularly the young.
