ScotRail pays £1m a month to Dutch owner

Neil Bibby, Labour’s transport spokesman, said that it was wrong for Scotland’s rail network to be run “for profit not passengers” after it emerged that Abellio is making a substantial profit from the service. According to business documents prepared by Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Abellio’s parent company, the operator is taking in up to £1 million a month on what it described as a “limited investment” in its Scottish operation.
