A local TD has said he believes lockdown restrictions may be lifted sooner than planned if the number of reported cases of COVID-19 continues to decline. Deputy O'Brien was speaking last week prior to the scheduled 'Phase Two' of the government's roadmap for the lifting of lockdown restrictions on Monday June 8. The Green Party Deputy said: 'I think the basic principle of caution is probably a wise one. I think there could be scope if we continue on this pathway to speed things up in the later phases and to open things up more than initially planned in the later phases.' Speaking of his own time spent during lockdown, Deputy O'Brien said that it had been 'challenging' for his family:'It's family pressures, I've three young kids and my wife's an essential worker.
