Professor Robert West, of University College London's Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, meanwhile called the removal of Covid curbs in two weeks' time "bonkers". "We are going to have to learn to accept the existence of Covid and find ways to cope with it – just as we already do with flu." A spokesman for the Health Secretary clarified: "The Health Secretary did not say that Covid was like flu. "He said we need to learn to live with it and find ways to cope with it - in the same way we do with flu."
