Gerard Leo Clarke, 66, of Taranaki, was sentenced to four months of home detention when he appeared in the Hamilton District Court on Wednesday, after earlier pleading guilty to charges of aggravated careless driving causing death and aggravated careless driving causing injury. The court was told that just prior to the crash the man driving the Ford Ranger had seen Clarke driving in an aggressive manner behind him, tailgating him and, at times, veering across the yellow lines. MARK TAYLOR/Stuff Gerard Leo Clarke was sentenced to four months of home detention when he appeared in the Hamilton District Court on Wednesday, on charges of aggravated careless driving causing death and aggravated careless driving causing injury. Clarke had been convicted of careless driving for an offence in 1983.
