Ashburton College and schools around the country are being kept up to date with the country’s response to the coronavirus. Advice is being offered on actions that need to be taken should the virus emerge in New Zealand and schools have the power to enforce a 14 day exclusion if there is a suspected case. A letter from Ashburton College principal Ross Preece to parents said the exclusion would be enforced by the college "particularly if symptoms had emerged from a person travelling via China". Mr Preece said two Chinese students due to return to Ashburton College this year were in "home lockdown" in China and waiting for more advice. Anyone with a particular concern about their child’s health should contact Healthline on 0800 611 116 or seek advice from a GP.
