Due to the 18-month-long closure, the classrooms, playgrounds and surrounding areas of the educational institutions had gathered dust and waste. However, authorities at the schools and colleges have already cleaned the premises and taken steps to ensure hygiene. District Education Officer Md Rafiqul Islam said that schools and colleges have been notified about the government’s reopening guidelines as per the deadline set by the Education Ministry. There are nearly 3,000 educational institutions in the northern district, according to education department officials. They include 1,870 primary schools, 651 secondary schools, 296 madrasas, 93 higher secondary colleges and 50 vocational or technical educational institutions.
