School for visually impaired children opens in Ethiopia


The school, designed for students in grades 9 to 12, provides essential services for visually impaired students such as vital services convenient for visually impaired students, including classrooms, cafeteria, library and other modern facilities. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasised the importance of creating an inclusive urban infrastructure to cater for the needs of people with disabilities. More than 300 students from different regions of Ethiopia will be able to attend the newly opened modern boarding school. Abiy reiterated the government's commitment to prioritise development projects that improve the situation of citizens with limited financial resources. The boarding school was built with the support obtained from Sheikha Fatima, mother of Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
