School bus crashes near DannevirkeWarwick Smith/StuffA witness to a school bus crash near Dannevirke says the community rallied together to help the children on board. The bus, carrying 15 children from Ruahine Primary School, hit a power pole at Top Grass Rd about 8.20am on Friday, a police spokesperson said. Three children received minor injuries and police said one child was taken to Palmerston North Hospital, along with the bus driver. Ruahine School principal Leanne Angland said she, the school's deputy principal and another teacher had attended the scene in Top Grass Rd. Senior Constable Wayne Churchouse said the children on board the bus had all been very calm.
