Whangarei resident Sara Hamilton describes her dream of teaching others how to grow their own food as "growing for life and love". The 43-year old was recently awarded the $5000 regional scholarship from AMP to help her start teaching schools how to grow their own food. Hamilton says the ultimate goal is to secure her own site to run as a community food forest that offers a garden and resource centre for families interested in setting up their own home gardens. "It's about working with children, whanau and community to share food growing skills, reconnect with the soil and generate inspiration, motivation and pride in people.
